[SOLVED]Quick hack for faulty/jammed Power button on Nexus 5

So few months back I found my phone Nexus 5 was turn off all of sudden and as anyone would do I pressed the power button and tried to start the phone but just after 10 sec it went in boot-loop mode ON-GOOGLE LOGO-OFF  ON-GOOGLE LOGO-OFF  ON-GOOGLE LOGO-OFF then completely turn off again pressed power button same thing happen. I did some research and found out it's a common problem with Nexus 5.

Most solution what even Google recommend is that it's a software problem and will go if to factory reset the phone or go in fast-boot mode and wipe clean partition.
But I was sure its not a software problem but a hardware problem.

Solution

It's not a complete fix and I will not be held responsible if anything went wrong proceed at your own risk. If it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for you.

Steps
  • Take out any protective case from the phone
  • Find a Good Hard surface
  • Smash the back side of the phone near power button(or smash the power button side) on the hard surface
  • Intensity of the power/ hit would be like you are knocking a door a bit hard
  • You might not have the courage to hit it hard on first try but on 3rd or 4th time you will hit it hard enough to fix the problem
  • Then Power up the phone if doesn't worked repeat

I honestly don't know how it's work but its fixes the problem. It's a temporary fix and it occurred again for me after a week so I decide I need to further do something about it. The best solution was not to press power button ever again.

I searched Google for some apps and found a app called Gravity Screen. Its free on play store. It's a great app and doesn't seem to seem affect my phone battery life too much max 3-7% after full charge. The app would automatically open and close the phone using proximity sensor and other things.
Now the problem haven't occurred for more than one month and I am relieved that didn't have to spend any money for it. So you can give phone to LG service center and get it repair for $150(they will change motherboard) or to to a local repair to shop change power button for $10 or use this simple hack for Free choice is yours .

Do let us know if the Hack work for you and if you have any query email me or leave them in comment section below.

Why should you choose Android over any other OS?

This is definitely a big debate which OS is best well there are fans of each and every OS available in market whether its Android, IOS, blackberry, Ubuntu, Firefox, ti zen or be it windows. Well the best answer to this is that no OS is best every OS has there own advantage and disadvantage and its fans are using that OS because of that advantage.

Before Reading: If you are a IOS fan then you would also like to read this post.

So lets start why would anyone choose Android over any other OS.

  1. Massive hardware selection: A large number of Android devices are available at various price points, with varying hardware capabilities, screen sizes and features. Its price starts from Rs 5,000 and go up to Rs 60,000( $100- $1000). More than 80% people in world run on Android. This creates a responsibility for for Google to continuously improve its OS to deliver it to large number of people.

  1. Android Is For Tinkerers: Be it home screen, icons of apps, keyboard or launcher all can be changed according to user. Apps like Swift Key can modifies your Android smartphone's keyboard, Nova, apex launcher and change appearance of launcher. User just have to think how its phone OS should look and Android will allow you to do that. No other OS provide customization to this extent.

  1. Widgets and Notification Bar: Widgets is kind of the most well thought feature of Android. Many operating system like Firefox, windows has tried to copy it. Without opening the app user and look at the information. Notification center is a feature is from very beginning of the Android it have mature over time by adding quick toggles and quick setting. Majorly all the companies have copied this feature from Android including Apple(IOS) and Microsoft(windows).

  1. Open Source Project: We all know Android is open source but how this help its uses. Google has fewer restrictions than Apple on what kinds of apps it allows in its Play store. Moreover, you can choose to install Android apps from places other than the Google Play store. You can even completely change your OS by flashing other open source OS(Firefox) or Custom ROM's

  1. Google Apps: This is no say, its a Google operating system so all the Google apps are pre installed on it. also apps are tightly integrated in the OS like Hangout for messaging and video calling, Maps for navigation etc. Also some apps are Android specific because of open nature of android

  1. Google Now: Google Now can be term as next big thing in technological world. It provide the information at the right time when you need it. Even without opening the phone you can say OK Google on home screen and it will respond to your command. Google is said to be working to make Google Now a complete Virtual Assistance.

Why should you choose IOS over any other OS?

This is definitely a big debate which OS is best well there are fans of each and every OS available in market whether its IOS, Android, blackberry, Ubuntu, Firefox, ti zen or be it windows. Well the best answer to this is that no OS is best every OS has there own advantage and disadvantage and its fans are using that OS because of that advantage.

Before Reading: If you are a Android fan then you would also like to read this post.

Why should you choose Android over any other OS?

So lets start why would anyone choose IOS over any other OS.

  1. Fastest OS upgrade: Well I said fastest because majority of other of the other operating system are open source so many different manufacturers make their smartphone from it and to differentiate them from other manufactures of the same OS they alter the OS and this let them delay in update. For IPhone its the only phone that run IOS so its  pretty easy to for Apple to push an update as soon as it is ready

  1. Security: Undoubtedly this one of the most important feature for IPhone as compare it other OS. The source code of IOS is not open source so it become difficult for hackers to hack it. Many people buy IPhones just because of its great security. Also even if a vulnerability in operating system is found that compromise the system then Apple can quickly patch and then dispatch it to IPhone and it won't  take time to reach people because of faster OS update. Also all the app submitted to app store have to pass security check. This ensure no malware is uploaded on user IOS device.

  1. Constant UI: I think this one area where IOS has excel over other OS as there is no/less fragmentation amongst its OS. For example more than 80% people run IOS7 so this forces the developer to update its app according to the newer UI so where if people are still using IOS 6 they would get the app that has IOS7 interference.

  1. More and Exclusive Apps: IOS is developer lover OS. Due to less of privacy of IOS app developers are earning a great profit from its app than other OS also they are launching apps on IOS first and also some time exclusive apps for IOS like Clash of Clan(now on Android also). Due to its developers lover nature it has more than 100,000 apps in app store.

  1. Google Apps: Belive it or not but most of the IPhone user use Google Apps and Service. Also Google care for them Google sometime realise its app first on IOS and then on its own operation system Android. Also some of the Google IOS app have feature that are not found on Android like you can't refresh comments in youtube in Android but in IOS you can and Google+ commenting on post has swipe gesture to see next comment in IOS.

  1. Siri: Its not like Google now but Apple never make it like that way. Its your personal assistance you can ask any legit or useless question to it and it will respond to you. You can also use its set reminder open apps and many more stuffs.

So let know which Operating system you use? Which company phone do you use? Has this post alter your thinking about IOS? Do let us know comment below

Is It Worth Buying a Micromax Phone?

If you don't know Micromax is India's second largest Smartphone Company just behind the leader Samsung and just ahead of  companies like Sony,Nokia, LG. Its people perception that its a Chinese phone manufacture but its a Indian homegrown smartphone maker which has gain its popularity by launching affordable but not necessarily top end phones under its Canvas series. It has itsits headquarter in GurgaonHaryanaIndia. Its also have its R&D labs and manufacturing plants in country. Its has tried to change people's perception about itself of just being affordable not top class phone maker by launching Canvas HD, Canvas 4 and recently launched Canvas Knight. Its has started it expansion outside the India in various country like RussiaBangladeshSri Lanka,Nepal and is looking forward to expand in Europe. It has its brand ambassador as Hugh Jackman.

But the real question lies, Is it worth to buy a Micromax phone?

Pros

  1. Dual sim: It was one of the first company in India to launch dual sim phone. Mostly all its phone have a dual sim option which is popular in developing country like India
  2. 3G/4G connectivity:  Adoption rate of 3G is increasing in India keeping this in mind all of its canvas phone come with 3G connectivity and also some from its less popular bolt series phone also feature 3G. Adoption of 4G is very low in India but still micromax committed to launch a phone with 4G TDD in late 2014
  3. Low price tag: Nothing to argue here. In India a cheap phone with some basic and good feature found in top end phone is always hit. We all know why Canvas 2 was such a big hit.
  4. Global company: Company recent expansion outside India and roping its brand ambassador as Hugh Jackman  has encouraged people to buy its phone. It also appeared in MWC 2014.  Micromax rank 12th in the world in smartphone shipment.

CONS

  1. Very slow Android upgrade: Micromax have enough resources to upgrade its phone but it lack in here. Its current flagship phone  Canvas Knight runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, similar to its previous flagship Canvas Turbo. In not 4.4.2 Kitkat at least 4.3 jellybean Micromax and if you see some of its LATEST bolt series phone they are running 4.0.3 Icecream sandwich.
  2. Bloatware attack: One would definitely see some of the micromax own apps  such as Security, M! Live, M! Unlock, M!Vault and some third party app like Spuul, Hike, Opera Mini ,BlackBerry, Truecaller and more. Sometime company also bundle games like Real Steel WRB, Where's My Perry and ,Where's My Water. At Least give option to uninstall them.
  3. After sale service: If we compare to some other brand like Samsung and Nokia its service is very disappointing. Also micromax own mini or full fledged retail shops are hard to find in cities. This is one of the problem every small smartphone manufacture faces.
  4. Battery and camera: These are something that depend from mobile to mobile but still mostly all the phone made by the company don't feature a good camera and battery. Even though it has 16MP camera in its flagship phone Canvas Knight but its quality can't be compare with 8MP camera of IPhone.

Pros with cons:

  1. MicroSD Slot: Mostly all weather its its Rs 5K or 20K phone all its phone have support for microSD card. But Micromax doesn't allow apps and games to be store on sd card its a major drawback as all the company phone's internal  memory is not so good except some.
  2. Design language: Design of phone is simple and some phones like Canvas Knight aluminum body is quite very good. But its not extraordinary and seems to a copy of IPhone and Samsung

Bottom Line
If you want a phone that  has decent look, top end feature and a low price tag and you don't care about the excess of bloatware, quick android upgrade and want to have a phone that can click picture to be uploaded on social networking site and can manage a with 7-8hrs of average battery life. Then Micromax phone is just made for you

Do tell us which Micromax Phone fascinate you the most? Have you use a micromax phone before? In future will micromax be you phone? Do tell us in comment below.

Google smartwatch: Will it be an 'iPhone moment' for wearables?

CNET is reporting  that Google and LG are about to jump into the smartwatch game together.

Google is set to unveil plans for its smartwatch-centric operating system in March, likely in a blog post, according to a person familiar with its plans. The actual smartwatch itself will make its debut at its Google I/O conference in June, the person said.
But there's a reason wearables have drawn the attention of tech companies: the market is estimated to be worth $19 billion by 2018.
Google’s smartwatch will revolve around Google Now’s assistant features with voice playing a major role in how users interact with the product. Reportedly HTC has a smartwatch in the works that will include a Google Now experience, so it is only natural to assume that Google will do the same. The features coming from Google Now to a smartwatch will most likely be the use of notifications, reminders, weather and traffic, sports scores, events and so much more. Google reportedly is banking on its ability to make a watch that is less an expensive accessory to a smartphone and more a device with a unique utility in its own right. But i think that the cross-platform aspect is really important, like Pebble(With Android and IPhone) or sony smartwatch ( android v4.0)

What Google should focus ON:
  • Battery lifeMain problem with wearable are are their battery like. Weather its Google Glass or Galaxy Gear they need to be charged in a day or two. Sony smartwatch and Pebble promises about a week battery life but that not enough .  Alternative method of charging should be found .
  • Design: Google has done a very good design with Google Glass and the look of new Pebble Steel is also good. A lightweight body, quality of the screen and a curved display will work. So it should take the design language with manufacturer seriously.
  • Killer feature: Reportedly it will have Google Now functionality(which is likely to happen) but it it should have some focus on Health and Fitness as it will be most useful feature for smartwatch. Act as remote to TV, mini controller for Google Glass or Phone.
  • Latest Android: Unlike Google Glass which run on Ice Cream sandwich(v4.0) it should runs on android kitkat or the latest android(repotly Android 4.5). Latest OS will allow the watch to use more sensors and will reduce the battery consumption.
  • Pricing: Last but not the least to make it a hit I think Google should learn from its Nexus series. Nexus pricing has made the nexus phones and tablets so hit.
Do you think Google is really win the wearable competition though its late in the game? What do you want your smartwatch to be capable of doing? Let us know down below

What is Nokia Android Phone? (Updated)

Update 3:
Nokia is officially launching its very first Android devices, known as the X , the X+ and the XL on stage at its annual Mobile World Congress press conference. Nokia says will give the advantage of the Android ecosystem, but with a "differentiated experience." So far, Here Maps, MixRadio, Skype and Outlook will be offered. You can access the Nokia and third party stores using the devices, but not Google Play, obviously. The Nokia X is available immediately, in countries including  India, for 89 Euros, while the Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL will be available in the second quarter of this year for 99 Euros and 109 Euros respectively.

Update 2:

  • Nokia just change its profile colour to green on all its social networks.(not quite as android)
      • Update Nokia has reverted back to its signature Blue colour.
  • Nokia also send its invitation for MWC some weeks back which was also green. So its could be either green = environment  or green = android .
  • Vietnamese online retailer price the Nokia Normandy near the price tag of  $110
  •  Smartphone vendors pay a license fee to Google to get services like the Google’s Play app store, Google Maps, Gmail and others. However, Nokia won't use any of Google’s services and will instead implement its own and Microsoft services, which means it won't have to pay Google any licensing fee.
  •  Nokia has already developed its own app store for the platform(NO Google Playstore and IT APPSwhich already have most of the top 100 apps on the store.
Update 1:
Its expected to be introduce in MWC and to be launch in month of March. Expected price is sub $100.It is also rumor that the Nokia X will come in 6 different color options. The Nokia X embodies Nokia's Asha line design language A polycarbonate body is what encases the device within, and even signature Asha cues, like the left chevron (the '<' symbol) capacitive button are making an appearance. In fact, being likened to the Asha line has given rise to a an alternative theory that the Nokia X may be, after all, a new generation of Asha.

Much have been said, heard and read about Nokia's Android phone codenamed 'Normandy' and it could soon be a reality now. The handset is designed as the next step in low-end phones from the Finnish smartphone maker. We know that Nokia has been testing “Normandy” with a special modified variant of Android, like to what Amazon does with its Kindle Fire line.

UI of the Phone

Specification Known

According to the Vietnamese online listing, the alleged Nokia X will come with a 4-inch TFT display with a resolution of 480 x 854 (FWVGA) pixels; 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor; 5-megapixel rear camera; microSD card support and running Android 4.4 KitKat.Further, the listing seemingly confirms that the rumoured Nokia X will come with dual-SIM support, while connectivity options including 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, AGPS and Micro-USB. Other specifications include 4GB of inbuilt storage and Adreno 302 GPU.Its definitely true that this device is a budget phone and will run highly modified version of android kitkat which look likes windows phone but will let users access the Google Play Store.
BUT what exactly is Nokia doing with this android phone when their Mobile business is going to sell to the microsoft.
  • I think Nokia is doing this to ensure that the deal between Microsoft and Nokia don't scrape off as microsoft will be afraid that its ONLY windows OEM will shift to android.(which is most likely not to happen)
  • Also as from the leaks we have seen that the UI phone is similar to the Windows phone so I may be possible that microsoft is only doing this to let people experience windows UI but with android under hood. This will ensure that people will get to know windows phone better and in future people will buy windows phone .

Why is BlackBerry wasting time with BBM for Android Gingerbread?

UPDATE: Now, anyone with a device running Gingerbread (v. 2.3) can also get hold of the free app.
Its seems like that the BBM running on Gingerbread is bit buggy and on some devices the app force closes.

BlackBerry Messenger, a popular messaging service in some markets, will soon be updated to support older Android devices. BBM has accrued tens of millions of new users on Android and iOS.
The BBM team announced that a release that also supports Gingerbread phones is now in beta, with a target launch for February. More specifically, the updated BBM for Android app will support devices running Android 2.3.3 and higher. Launched in October BBM currently only supports Android 4.0 and higher which left out Gingerbread, the three-year-old version of Android that was popular among entry-level Android smartphones
Also, BBM’s past hasn't been all that glorious. Remember how it topped the charts when Blackberry launched it on Android and iOS? BBM is currently on number 130 on the top free apps in the Indian Google Play store and ranks 137 on Apple’s App Store.
But Why for 3 years old Operating system
  1. Till January 8th, there was still 21 percent of all Android users still running Gingerbread translating in millions of potential new users.
  2. Many other IM apps like whatsapp, wechat are available on more OS's than BBM. So it will give BBM a little edge in that game
  3. According to the recent report BBM is being separated from Blackberry, so Its new team can entirely focus on one project.
  4. BlackBerry products and services are still very popular in developing markets like India, Indonesia and many other developing markets.
This new is a good new for all the gingerbread user. Its a good thing to have an app (BBM in this case) available across the whole range of Android OS. But it will good to see if Blackberry increase the number of OS's it support in future.

What do you think should Blackberry continue to extend BBM to more OS's? Will it really help blackberry?
Let us know in the comment below .Please comment if you are a Gingerbread user
